ALL VOICES, ALL BEINGS
Effective advocacy needs solid evidence.
We envision a future rooted in compassion, equity, and justice for all beings.
Animetrics is a women-led research and capacity-building organization, founded in 2023 by two economists from Türkiye with PhDs.
We specialize in economics, impact evaluation, and research tailored to local contexts. We offer high-quality, no-cost support to strengthen animal advocacy, with a focus on the Global South—home to most of the world’s farmed animals, yet remains severely under-resourced.
We work not only for but also with advocates—co-designing studies and surveys, and jointly turning findings into policy-relevant insights. Our goal is simple: make evidence accessible and actionable for those driving change.
Since August 2023, we’ve partnered with 13 organizations, launched 6 research projects, and delivered over 300 hours of capacity-building—helping advocates save time, avoid inefficiencies, and boost their impact for animals.

I thought that wasn’t Halal!
What Muslim consumers know (and don’t know) about animal welfare in halal food production
Our study answers.
Many Muslim consumers associate halal with compassion and high animal welfare, but does that reflect reality?
In our study of 788 Muslim adults in Türkiye, we found widespread gaps in understanding. Between 57–80% didn’t know that practices like chick culling or lack of long-term medical care are allowed; 26–47% wrongly believed they’re prohibited. Once informed, many said they’d buy less of the products involving those practices, and some showed increased openness to plant-based alternatives.
Why this matters? Despite shaping the diets of nearly two billion people, Muslim communities remain largely overlooked in farmed animal advocacy. This is the first large-scale study in a Muslim-majority country to show how correcting misconceptions can shift consumer intent, offering a high-impact, culturally grounded opportunity to reduce suffering.
